Walden Biathlon News

Walden Biathlon is in full swing with fall training already underway.  We have received funding for new targets, air rifles, and the Biathlon Bears Program.  This program awards badges and pins for skiing and shooting proficiency with three levels: Black Bear, Grizzlie Bear, and Polar Bear. A gold level coaches clinic was held in September to learn about the Biathlon Bears Program with 4 attendees from Walden.

We have plans to hold our own Bronze/Silver Coaches clinic before the race season starts.  Bronze and Silver level coaches are crucial in the smooth functioning of Biathlon Events performing duties such as range setup, scoring, and range operations.  Interested teens (will count towards high school volunteer hours) or parents should contact Greg Dalton (gdalton@tribsys.com or 523-9989).

We are also planning an Adult Introduction to Biathlon program at some point this winter...please watch for details.

We had several new Biathletes out for our first practice.  Anyone (10 years or older) wishing to join or just try it out, just come to a practice or contact one of the coaches.

Full Team practice will be held every Saturday 12:30pm to 2:30pm at Naughton Trails Range (Walden).

Note
1. When Walden XC JD training is off site (ie Laurentian), Biathlon will still start at 12:30pm but may go later than 2:30pm to accommodate the late arrival of JD'ers.

2. When a Biathlon event (Race or Training Camp) is scheduled out of town, practices in Walden will be held only when there are sufficient Athletes and Coaches to warrant a practice.

3. Notice of a cancelled practice will be sent by email.  If in doubt call Greg Dalton cell 561-8876 or home 523-9989.
