Junior Development News

Junior Development (ages 10-14) - 
The JD program introduces skills in running, biking and cross country skiing dryland and on snow techniques.  The program is offered to any persons wanting to learn how to enjoy winter and being active year round.  The goal of the JD training group to increase fitness, skill and enjoyment of the outdoors.  Athletes interested in biathlon are encouraged to belong to the JD program to develop their fitness and technique.  This group starts meeting in September and runs to the end of March.

Junior Development Racers and Youth Racers program challenge kids to learn how to ski efficiently and try their hand at racing.  The Youth Racers Program: athletes receive a training plan designed to help them reach their potential.  Qualified coaches will assist the athletes to learn how to train, improve their skills and teach them tactics on how to race.

Junior Development Racers (ages 10-16) - The goal of the JDR to improve fitness and skill development so the athlete has the opportunity to test him/herself in local, regional, and one provincial races.  The goal is to have as many as possible athletes attend the Ontario Midget Championships which is participation event (club with the most points wins), being held in Duntroon this year.  The athletes will be taught skills to understand how to race, tactics to enjoy the event, and team building.  This group starts in September, but can also attend summer training.

Youth Racing (ages 12-20) - The YR group trains year round and are committed to learning how to race and reach their full potential.  The athletes have goals to aim for while at High School and Provincial races and when possible, at Nationals.  This group trains year round starting in May and going to the end of March.

All the JD athletes are encouraged to participate in local fitness events such as running, biking, swimming, canoeing, etc.
